What All Fans Need To Know About God Of War's Atreus

Sickly
After Atreus is introduced in "God of War," it is established that he has been sick for most of his childhood. In the companion book "God of War: Lore and Legends," excerpts from Atreus’ journal detail his struggles of growing up sickly and worrying about not being strong enough. Atreus also journaled about the emotional distance between him and Kratos.
Arrogant
Toward the end of "God of War," Kratos reveals to Atreus that he is a god — and the news quickly goes to Atreus’ head, making him arrogant, dismissive, and impetuous. Atreus even attacks Kratos and thinks less of the dwarves Sindri and Brok, who have helped him and Kratos throughout their journey.
Changeable
After Atreus derails their journey and gets himself and Kratos to Helheim, Kratos scolds Atreus, which stops Atreus from acting out further. Atreus begins to follow Kratos' orders begrudgingly, and Kratos realizes that in order to help Atreus grow, he needs to open up to his son. After Kratos and Atreus emotionally bond, they both vow not to succumb to violence.
Godly
Atreus has incredible strength, stamina, and agility for his age. He also has generative abilities similar to Kratos, allowing him to quickly heal and recover from the damage that he takes in combat. Atreus also shows evidence of having his own version of Spartan Rage, although all of his abilities that are reminiscent of Kratos' are much weaker than his father's.
Mama’s Boy
As Kratos and Atreus make their way to the highest peak to spread Faye's ashes, they come across a series of old carvings from the Frost Giants. These reveal that Faye purposefully set them on the journey to help them get closer and also that Faye wanted to name Atreus Loki when he was born, which foreshadows what could be in store for Atreus in the future.
