Pokémon Scarlet And Violet's Funniest Glitches
So Far
By ERIK PETROVICH
Some of the most noticeable glitches in "Pokémon Scarlet" and "Violet" arise from unexpected changes to NPC behavior. One recurring glitch that seems to be happening in many players’ games is NPCs waltzing straight through each other during cutscenes and battles without stopping where they are supposed to.
One of the most viral glitches for “Scarlet" and "Violet" is related to the game's co-op multiplayer. In a clip that's racked up more than four million views on Reddit, a player in a co-op session grows to terrifying proportions when mounting their Pokémon — which fans have humorously connected to the Gigantamax mechanic in “Pokémon Sword” and “Shield.”
Players are able to have picnics with their Pokémon almost anywhere in the open world, but deploying the picnic table near cliffs triggers an easily replicated glitch. If players are too close to any sort of cliff when they throw out all their Pokémon, the Pokémon have the tendency to jump right off the edge — thankfully, it doesn’t cause any damage to the Pokémon.
Most glitches that appear in “Scarlet” and “Violet” happen because of the games’ innumerable rendering bugs, which can cause graphics and animations to load incorrectly. Textures popping into view at the last moment, animations breaking, and the general lack of distant texture quality happen often due to the game being unoptimized to handle it all.
While a majority of the glitches present in “Scarlet” and “Violet” are harmless, there are some that completely ruin the experience by altering progression for better or worse. For example, players are able to scale any cliff by jumping backwards on their Pokémon mount or can sometimes even fall through the ground by jumping in the wrong spots.
