I Am Jesus Christ Developer Explains The Humble Origins Of The Sensationalized Game
By CODY D. CAMPBELL
Indie developers SimulaM and PlayWay have announced their new game, "I Am Jesus Christ," a first-person simulation that allows gamers to play out the story of Jesus of Nazareth. It begins in the days just before his baptism and continues until the final moments of his crucifixion; along the way, players meet biblical figures, perform miracles, and battle the Devil.
In an interview, the CEO of SimulaM Maksym Vysochanskiy talked about the idea for "I Am Jesus Christ," saying, "Basically, over 20 years ago, I was so inspired by computer-animated movies like 'Shrek' and 'Toy Story' that I thought, 'It would be great to make such a movie about Jesus Christ.'" His idea, however, would evolve into a video game instead of an animated film.
The concept became a reality when the reputable Polish game developer PlayWay came on board and lent an air of credibility to the project that a lone publisher like SimulaM might not have been able to achieve on its own. A demo-like “Prologue” for the game is releasing on December 1, 2022, so players can experience it for themselves.
