How Long Will Final Fantasy 16 Be A PS5 Exclusive?
By JAMES CARR
"Final Fantasy 16" is slated to be a PlayStation exclusive when it arrives in the summer of 2023. However, a PlayStation trailer had some fine print that has PC and Xbox gamers excited for the upcoming game. Considering Square Enix’s history with its release of an earlier “Final Fantasy” title, Xbox users are cautioned not to get their hopes up.
The PlayStation trailer states that "Final Fantasy 16" is a six-month exclusive to the PlayStation 5. Six months after its release, which should be late 2023 or early 2024 depending on when it arrives in the summer of 2023, it can come to other platforms, presumably PC and Xbox Series X|S. However, Xbox users have seen a similar rollout before that excluded them.
The "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" had a one-year exclusivity deal with PlayStation, and when that year was up, the game only launched on PC. It's been 18 months since then, and there is no sign of an Xbox release. While "Final Fantasy 16" is likely to come to PC after the exclusivity window, Xbox users will have to wait and see if the game actually gets ported to that platform.
