How Long Does It Take To Beat The Last Of Us Part 1?
"The Last of Us Part 1" is finally here, and critics are loving it. For the uninitiated, "The Last of Us Part 1" is an enhanced remake of Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us" from 2013. The gameplay of "The Last of Us" is very linear, focusing on a tight narrative and its two primary characters. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world in which players take control of Joel, a bitter man who takes a young girl named Ellie into his care, all while fighting monsters and other survivors.
"The Last of Us Part 1" brings the PS3 masterpiece into the latest generation with technical improvements such as better graphics, faster loading times, and a new Enhanced Listening Mode. However, not everyone is sold on "The Last of Us Part 1." Many fans have called it a cash grab because they believe the original still holds up and that a premium price is not justified for a remake (per Kotaku). This may have left many wondering if the game's overall length will justify the price of admission. So how long does it take to beat "The Last of Us Part 1?"
The Last of Us Part 1's extras will stretch your playthrough
Because "The Last of Us Part 1" is a linear narrative game, its completion time is more or less set in stone. And based on IGN's review, the game's story was untouched in the remake, meaning the game length will be roughly the same as the original. This means that, according to HowLongToBeat reports about the original, players can expect to finish "The Last of Us Part 1" in roughly 15 hours. T3's review of the remake backed up this rough estimate as well. Completionist playthroughs, on the other hand, can take up yo 22 hours.
However, as noted by the game's official PlayStation listing, "The Last of Us Part 1" also includes the optional "The Last of Us: Left Behind" DLC. This bonus chapter follows Ellie in the days leading up to the events of the main game. According to HowLongToBeat, it takes around two and a half hours to beat "The Last of Us: Left Behind," or three hours for completionists. In other words, this DLC pushes the content in "The Last of Us Part 1" to around 17 hours.
It's also worth noting that "The Last of Us Part 1" does not include the "Factions" multiplayer mode, which means players will miss out on the hours of multiplayer content that was present in the PS3 original.
