Neon White: How To Unlock Every Ending
When it comes to first-person shooters, there haven't been too many lately that have stretched the genre quite like "Neon White." The 2022 title had critics on the edge of their seats for a story following White, an assassin from Hell who's trying to get access to Heaven by fighting other assassins and defeating demons. As one can imagine, this can get pretty messy as White interacts with other demons, and part of the game is building relationships with the other assassins. Doing so will unveil secrets about Heaven and even help White learn more about his past life (per Steam).
Fast-paced FPS action is combined with parkour elements to keep things interesting. Players can sacrifice their guns to get around the map while they try to score the best times. After all of that, the story of the game actually has two endings, and one of them requires much more work than the other. It's not too confusing, though — once you know what to look for.
Beware of spoilers ahead for "Neon White."
The Book of Death ending
The first ending of "Neon White" is incredibly straightforward, and it's the ending that most people will unlock by going through the game. All you have to do is defeat Neon Green at the end of Mission 12, the last mission in the game. At that point, Mikey will give you the pen to write Neon Green's name in either the Book of Death or the Book of Life, as YouTuber Raesel showed in their playthrough.
Unless you purposefully tried to find everything in the game the first time through, you probably won't be able to choose the Book of Life ending. You'll be forced to choose the Book of Death ending, where you condemn Neon Green to Hell. However, if you're willing to put in the time and work, then you can find what many call the True Ending to "Neon White" by choosing to save Neon Green.
The Book of Life ending
As explained by YouTuber Troyfu, if you've unlocked every memory before the end of the game, you can choose to write Neon Green's name in the Book of Life.
In order to unlock a memory, you'll need to build relationships with the other characters in the game. These relationships, called Social Links, are increased by giving gifts. These gifts are generally found off the main areas of the map, so it's a good idea to replay each map so you can get to know it a bit better and aren't pressed on time.
Gamer Guru has helpfully put together a video explaining all the gifts that you can give each character:
-
Neon Yellow: Six Pack
-
Raz: Lucky Cat Statue
-
Neon Violet: Tattletail
-
Neon Red: Perfume
-
Mikey: Cigars
-
Neon Green: Strange Coin
Once you've given everyone their gifts, you can replay Mission 12 and choose to write Neon Green's name in the Book of Life, unlocking the game's alternate ending.
