Elden Ring: How To Solve Testu's Rise Puzzle

Since its debut on February 25, 2022, FromSoftware's "Elden Ring" has been delighting and frustrating players in equal measures. Like past games by creator Hidetaka Miyazaki–"Demon's Souls," the "Dark Souls" trilogy," "Bloodborne," and "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice"–"Elden Ring" offers up punishingly precise combat and a vast world full of secrets. It also offers up dozens of items that can make the game considerably easier.

The world of the Lands Between is full of sealed tower puzzles. These are abandoned structures blocked off by magic mist, with one of said useful items inside. To remove the mist, you'll need to find and attack three nearby blue-tinged tortoises. Testu's Rise is one of these puzzles, located on Sorcerer's Isle in northwest Liurnia of the Lakes. It's accessible early in the game, and it's a must-stop location if you're running a build that relies on spells. Here's how to find all three tortoises and get some sweet treasure.

The most difficult part of the Testu's Rise puzzle is looking into those defenseless tortoises' eyes

Start by reading the book on the pedestal outside Testu's Rise, which will instruct you to "Seek three wise beasts." This will spawn the three tortoises.

To find the first tortoise, start by facing Testu's Rise and then head directly north. It's sitting on some rocks. Dispatch it. From there, head around to the rear of Testu's Rise. The second tortoise is on one of the trees, clinging to the bark about halfway up. Take it out with a ranged weapon or a spell.

From that spot, turn left and head to the southern edge of Sorcerer's Isle, to the cliffs, then look east. Tortoise #3 is located on a grassy area at the foot of the cliffs. Once the tortoise is defeated, the seal will break and you can enter Testu's Rise (via YouTube).

At the top of the tower, you'll find a treasure chest with a Memory Stone inside. This item increases your number of spell slots, which makes it essential for anyone using Sorceries. Several higher level spells require multiple spell slots, so you'll want to nab this early on in your playthrough. Happy spellcasting.
