Elden Ring Creator's Favorite Bosses Revealed
Both critics and players agree that "Elden Ring" is one of the best games of 2022, if not the best. FromSoftware's undisputed masterpiece has already sold 12 million copies (per Bandai Namco), and nearly everyone who steps into the Lands Between is impressed by the game's scope and originality. Specifically, players have praised the game's enemy variety. Every enemy in "Elden Ring" feels unique in its design and abilities, and the game's dozens of bosses are no exception.
But when ranking the bosses from worst to best, it's easy to see that some bosses are much more loved than others. For example, some players enjoyed the sheer difficulty of Malenia, while others relished in the impressive scale of the Starscourge Radahn fight. Unsurprisingly, many gamers were curious to learn which bosses "Elden Ring" game director Hidetaka Miyazaki likes the most. Miyazaki previously listed his favorite bosses he had ever created (per Playstation.blog), with the Monk from "Demon's Souls" taking the number one spot. But now that "Elden Ring" is out, it looks like he might make some adjustments to his list.
There's nothing quite like the Radahn Festival
Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed his favorite "Elden Ring" boss to be Starscourge Radahn in an interview with Xbox Wire Japan (translated by IGN). And It's not hard to see why, as the battle with Radahn is nothing short of a spectacle. But not everyone may be familiar with Radahn as he is technically an optional boss located in the gloomy desert wasteland of Caelid. However, it's worth going back to kill Radahn, because doing so gives players access to Nokron, Eternal City, and advances multiple quest lines.
Aside from liking the boss fight itself, Miyazaki explained that he has a soft spot for the Radahn Festival, which sees the soldiers of Redmane Castle abandon their post. "There's a literal sense of festivity and exuberance, but also a unique tinge of sadness and loneliness," Miyazaki said.
Additionally, Miyazaki revealed that his runner-up bosses are Godrick, the Grafted and Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy. Miyazaki also added that, even though they aren't a boss, the Fingercreepers are one of his favorite enemy designs and explained that they are "something you don't want to even look at because it's so horrible." It's safe to say those creepy spider hands will probably be returning in "Elden Ring 2," if it ever ends up happening.
