Elden Ring: Latenna The Albinauric's Hidden Ability
There are so many reasons why "Elden Ring" has become one of the most beloved titles in modern gaming. For one, the game's insane difficulty constantly pushes players into improving their skills and exploring multiple ways to dispatch enemies. Not only that, but the latest hit by FromSoftware also contains tons of secrets pertaining to its gameplay and story that incentivizes players to experiment and learn more about the game through organic means. Discoveries such as weather playing a part in damage and illusory walls hiding valuables have all been made by the game's massively engaged community. And apparently, summons have their fair share of secrets too.
For anyone who has yet to play "Elden Ring," a summon is pretty self-explanatory — a companion that players can call upon when engaged in battle. These various companions all have different abilities and benefits and are the key to several in-game strategies that can aid players in their quest for victory. In fact, these summons at one point were so overpowered against specific enemies, that FromSoftware had to nerf them in a previous patch.
Needing to reevaluate how to use summoned companions more effectively post-patch, "Elden Ring" players have experimented with different ways to use and get the most out of them. And it appears one player has discovered a hidden ability for one such summon, Latenna the Albinauric, in the process.
Latenna the Albinauric can ride enemy wolves around
When summoned, Latenna is pretty much a stationary companion and won't stray too far from where she is called upon. This makes her character most suitable to be placed far away from enemies where she can get off more attacks without taking much damage. However, "Elden Ring" players have discovered a way to completely unlock Latenna's true potential by spawning her near a hostile wolf.
Twitter user @rasukuclaver posted a clip in which their character was being attacked by a Direwolf. The player then summoned Latenna who proceeded to dodge the Direwolf's attack before mounting it and riding it around as if it was a horse. While on the Direwolf's back, Latenna is seen to be able to use the hostile wolf to generate some kind of energy attack from its maw.
On Reddit, one user seems to think this may be the result of a glitch due to Latenna sharing AI with other Albinauric lady NPCs. "Latenna shares the AI with [A]lbinauric ladies on wolves in Consecrated Snowfield and this exists to let them remount the wolf after you dismount them," u/Elmis66 shared on a post regarding Latenna's secret ability. Glitch or not, it seems to be quite effective.
