Elden Ring: How To Remove The Frenzied Flame Curse
So, you poked your nose where you shouldn't have and ended up deep beneath the Royal Capital, where you accidentally pledged yourself to an outer god of chaos known as the Frenzied Flame. Whoops.
The vast open world of "Elden Ring" encourages players to explore every area as thoroughly as possible, and there are no doubt plenty of players who (while exploring the sewers beneath Leyndell) found themselves face to face with the Three Fingers, a malignant version of the strange Fingers found at Roundtable hold and at the tops of Divine Towers.
Interacting with the Three Fingers will imbue your character with the Flame of Frenzy, and lock your character into the "Lord of Frenzied Flame" Ending. You'll get a set of burn marks on your character to symbolize the flame within, and the NPC Melina will condemn you as a traitor, promising to kill you should you ever rise up as the "Lord of Chaos." If you've found yourself marked by the Frenzied Flame but don't wish to be locked into a single ending, there is a way to remove the Flame's influence over your character — though admittedly, it's a bit complicated.
Finishing Millicent's lengthy questline
The first step to removing the Frenzied Flame is to complete Millicent's questline, which begins at Gowry's Shack in Sellia, Town of Sorcery (via Fextralife). Gowry will task you with healing a young girl in the Church of The Plague, whose name is Millicent. To do so you will need to find the Unalloyed Gold Needle, which can be claimed after you've defeated Commander O'Neil in the Swamp of Aeonia. Return to Gowry and he'll tell you to wait a while so that he can fix the needle. Reload the area, grab the fixed needle, and head up to the Church where you can now give the needle to Millicent.
Millicent will be healed of the Scarlet Rot festering inside her, though she's still missing an arm. Exhaust her dialogue, then go back to Gowry's shack, where Millicent will now be standing. Exhaust her dialogue once more, and she will move to the Altus Plateau, standing directly north of the Erdtree-Grazing Hill Grace.
Retrieve the Valkyrie's Prosthesis from inside the Shaded Castle and give it to her, then make your way to the north of the plateau and defeat the Godskin Apostle Boss in Dominula, Windmill Village. At this point she will arrive at the village, fitted with her new prosthetic arm, and you simply have to exhaust her dialogue to progress to the next part of the quest.
Arriving at the Haligtree and receiving Miquella's Needle
Speak with Millicent again at the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Grace in the Mountaintops of the Giants, and then make your way to Miquella's Haligtree. Progress through the area until you reach Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, where you will find Millicent waiting at the Prayer Room Grace. Exhaust her dialogue, then defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit miniboss located near the Drainage Channel Grace.
After defeating the miniboss, you can reload the area to find a set of summoning signs. Choose the one where you defend Millicent, and assist her in defeating her 4 sisters. After the fight, go down to where Millicent is lying beside a pool of Scarlet Rot, being very careful not to drop down on her or touch her, since doing so will fail the quest. Exhaust her dialogue to receive the Unalloyed Gold Needle from Millicent.
Defeat the Demigod Boss Malenia, and use the needle on the large red flower in her boss room to create Miquella's Needle. Finally, go to the boss arena of Dragonlord Placidusax in Crumbling Farum Azula, where you can use the Miquella's Needle as a consumable to remove the Flame of Frenzy. At long last, you're free from the influence of the Frenzied Flame, and free to choose a separate ending. Who knew exploring the sewers could cause so much trouble?
