Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course: Release Date, Trailer, And New Bosses - What We Know So Far
After the success of 2017's "Cuphead," fans immediately began to wonder if there would ever be a sequel. The game's art style, which mimics 1930s cartoons, was an immediate hit with gamers. A DLC expansion, "Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course," was announced back in 2018, originally set for a 2019 release. Since then, Netflix announced a "Cuphead" animated series, but that wasn't enough for fans who wanted to continue playing through the adventure of Cuphead and Mugman. Finally, during the 2021 Game Awards, Studio MDHR announced the imminent arrival of "Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course."
Between showing off new bosses and giving fans a bit more information about a new character, the team has plenty to show off from the new DLC, and fans have been impressed by what they've seen. By the look of the new content, the developers at Studio MDHR have spent just as much time and effort on it as they did the original.
What is the release date for Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course?
Back in 2019, an unfortunate delay was announced for "The Delicious Last Course" DLC. The team basically wanted to make sure that the quality of the final product was up to the standards of the original game, which led to the DLC being pushed back to 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic further impacted the development of the DLC, and so it was pushed back again, this time until 2021.
After almost another full year with no updates, fans finally learned that "The Delicious Last Course" DLC will arrive on July 30, 2022. The DLC will also be arriving on every platform that has seen a release of "Cuphead," including both Steam and GOG. Rather than staggering the release between PC and consoles, everyone will be getting the DLC at the same time, which doesn't always happen with indie games.
A release date wasn't the only thing fans finally got — a pretty sweet trailer was released as well.
Is there a trailer for Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course?
Fans tuning into The Game Awards were rewarded with a comedic trailer that proved that "The Delicious Last Course" DLC is going to be just as silly and memorable as "Cuphead" itself. The trailer opens like an old feature film, and it immediately introduces Ms. Chalice, the new playable character.
It shows the three characters headed to the cleverly named DLC Island. The brief glimpses of gameplay gives players the sense that this DLC will be just as chaotic and challenging as the main game. Another supporting character is introduced in the trailer, as well: Chef Saltbaker. The trailer explains that the chef will help players with a type of power-up that will "put some pep in your step." The game's website also mentions that the goal of the DLC is to "assist" Chef Saltbaker in some type of quest. And naturally, that quest involves facing more than a few bosses.
Who are the new bosses in Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course?
Between the trailer and the pictures on the game's website, fans already know that there are plenty of new bosses in "The Delicious Last Course." In fact, unless the game's marketing is keeping some secrets from viewers, fans may have already seen every single new boss in one way or another. The trailer kicks off with a look at the map for DLC Island, which includes five areas. Meanwhile, another view of the map at the end of the trailer shows off a whale-like creature in the ocean surrounding the island. With this information, it looks like there will be at least five or six bosses, with one for each area.
Six total bosses can be seen in various marketing materials for the game: There's a type of Yeti creature, a wizard that lives in a Tundra, a cow named Sheriff Winchester, a donkey who is also a knight, some type of mix between a shark and a whale, and a mysterious ghost-like figure. In other words, DLC Island is home to all manner of wicked creatures.
