We Finally Know When The GTA Trilogy Remaster Is Being Released
After months of leaks and speculation, Rockstar Games has finally announced more information, including footage, for "Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition," a bundle that includes remastered versions of "Grand Theft Auto 3," "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City," and "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas."
Using the Unreal Engine, Rockstar has greatly improved the games' character models and lighting, in addition to incorporating some much-needed improvements when it comes to controls. And now, gamers finally know when they can get their hands on "Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy" — and it's right around the corner.
"Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy" will be available in both digital and physical formats, hitting virtual marketplaces on Nov. 11 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4. Unfortunately, anyone wanting to pick up the remastered trilogy in physical format will have to wait a bit longer. Physical copies don't drop until Dec. 7, almost a full month after the digital version. But that's not all: The new trailer also revealed how much the revamped trilogy will cost.
How much does Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy cost?
Some early rumors after the official announcement of "Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy" held that it could end up costing gamers upwards of $70 for next-gen consoles. Fortunately, this is not the case, as all versions of the remastered bundle are listed at a standard $59.99 price point across all platforms and generations.
Gamers with subscription services have a lot to be excited for, as well. Upon release, "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — The Definitive Edition" will be available on Xbox Game Pass, meaning that Xbox Series X|S and the Xbox One players have a chance to try out one part of the trilogy with their subscription. Meanwhile, the PlayStation Now service will be receiving the remastered version of "Grand Theft Auto 3" on Dec. 7.
According to Rockstar's press release for the trilogy, there are still plenty of surprises on the way as the company celebrates the 20th anniversary of "GTA 3" in style.
