Breath Of The Wild Players Discover An Incredible Master Sword Glitch

"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" fans have been on the receiving end of a lot of happy news lately. Between the long-awaited trailer for the sequel to discoveries of elusive treasure chests, there's a lot for "Zelda" fans to take in. One of the best open-world games of all time making headlines again, thanks to speedrunners who have discovered a way to get the unbeatable Master Sword at the start of the game.

Speedrunner Bot__W shared a video on Twitter of a severely underpowered Link taking a nap next to a campfire near the Master Sword. Once Link wakes up, he trots over and grabs the Master Sword with no problems whatsoever. Seems impossible, right?

YouTuber Limcube goes over the glitch in more detail, adding that all you have to do is look up right before falling asleep, then spam the A button all through the "night." Limcube also positions Link so that he falls asleep in between the Master Sword and the campfire, instead of farther away like Bot__W did.

Besides the trouble of making your way through the area surrounding the Master Sword (which is crawling with tough enemies), the glitch is ridiculously easy when compared to similar glitches. It's also easy to find wood and some type of fire source (like a fire arrow) in the early areas of the game, so it's something pretty much everyone can pull off.

However, just because it's easy doesn't mean that it's anything particularly helpful for the game.

The Master Sword glitch is great, but it doesn't change the game

Game Rant's Rory Young has noted that this latest Master Sword glitch doesn't really help speedrunners all that much, since most of them aren't bothering with collecting anything, and many prefer to just make a beeline for the fateful battle with Ganon. There's also the fact out that the glitch will preclude regular players from unlocking the achievement or free inventory space that the Master Sword would typically grant you.

You also won't see any of the cutscenes related to the event. However, Game Rant did mention that if you go to where the sword was located after you've used the glitch and you have the right in-game requirements, the cutscenes will trigger and you'll see and gain everything from a normal playthrough.

Regardless, it's a fun glitch to try out, whether you're brand new to the game or you're a seasoned "Zelda" veteran. Besides, even if you feel like this glitch is cheating, getting through the area surrounding the Master Sword with so few hearts can be something of a worthy challenge for some players on its own.
