Cities: Skylines Coming Soon To Xbox One And Windows 10
Paradox Interactive—the minds behind smash-hit game series such as Penumbra, the action-RPG Magicka, and Mount & Blade—released a bright and beautiful trailer for one of its most popular titles yet, Cities: Skylines. But what stands out in the sneak peek isn't just the graphics, it's the entire premise behind unveiling it in the first place: Cities: Skylines is heading to Xbox One and Windows 10 this spring.
Initially shown off at in a reveal trailer at Gamescom 2014, the city-building game Cities: Skylines was later released on March 10, 2015—but only for those gamers playing on Linux, Microsoft Windows, or OS X operating systems. However, the SimCity-esque construction and management title was teased in a tiny glimpse in an Xbox One montage reel developed for the upcoming Game Developers Conference, which will take place on February 27. This had fans buzzing about the possibility of Cities: Skylines reaching other platforms.
Today, it was confirmed that an optimized version of Cities: Skylines will indeed be hitting the Microsoft console as well as Windows 10 systems. Paradox also announced an anticipated release date of somewhere between April and June of this year, in the fiscal Q2. According to both the trailer and the official Cities: Skylines website, Xbox One and Windows 10 players can pick up the game in Spring 2017.
Fans can expect to build their dream city; experience "multi-tiered and challenging simulation"; navigate through the "extensive local traffic simulation"; and implement their town's policies, regulations, and designations.
Upon release, the game will also come packaged with the "After Dark" expansion. "After Dark [is] included," Paradox stated. "Watch your city become an entirely different place at night: a day-night cycle will have your citizens seeking out places to unwind after work. Add in new policies and zones to create popular hotspots and provide enough taxis and trains to get to and from the clubs!"
Since Paradox has yet to reveal a specific release date for the Xbox One/Windows 10 version of Cities: Skylines, try taking one of the best Xbox One games for a spin while you wait.
