PewDiePie Explains Why He's Not A Hypocrite
PewDiePie's fans want him to answer for some of his older comments. During a recent stream, a few of his followers have brought up a seven-year-old Reddit post from the streamer, questioning what he thinks about his words so far into the future.
The original post was simple, asking PewDiePie why he didn't hire an editor to professionally handle his work, especially since he seemed to dislike editing so much. PewDiePie originally responded with a point-by-point explanation, indicating that he'd be "cheating" his fans by not doing his own work. Besides, he said, he enjoyed hard work, even if it didn't seem like it on stream. He also explained that he wanted for creators to continue providing their personal touches to all of their content.
In response to the old comment, PewDiePie said, "I know it doesn't sound like it, but I think I stayed true to that. Especially comparing to how most YouTubers run their channel." PewDiePie went on to say that he obviously doesn't edit his own videos anymore, because doing so would mean fewer uploads.
"It's a trade," PewDiePie explained. "I think it's worked out great with Sive." PewDiePie's editor, Sive, has a following in his own right, and assists PewDiePie in creating so many videos for YouTube.
"I don't know if this was meant to put me on the spot," PewDiePie said. "But I think I stayed true to myself and this idea."
A change in priorities
While PewDiePie acknowledged that Sive also adds special elements to his videos, PewDiePie said that he, too, brought an original flavor to his content. In fact, PewDiePie lamented the fact that he can't edit his own content anymore. "I added a lot to my edits in the past," he said.
He went on to say that "other" YouTubers often have writers, producers, and a full crew to create the illusion of movie magic. Overall, PewDiePie is thankful for Sive's help and credited him with the channel's current post frequency.
One commenter pointed out that even if PewDiePie had changed his opinion on certain posts he made years ago, that would be okay. After all, people do change over time. "We can see how he now has more time for his mental and physical health," the commenter said. "I don't doubt that Felix still has the same views about how he does and wants to do his work as a YouTuber, I think he's just self-aware and knows when to let go of things to actually focus on what matters."
A change of priorities after seven years makes perfect sense, especially considering personal changes in PewDiePie's life during that time span. Pewds has made an effort to avoid controversy, and is instead focusing on discussing viral TikTok trends and "Resident Evil 8," which he loved.
