The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Backstory Revealed Through Fan Translation
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's backstory has just been revealed thanks to some clever fan translations. There may be minor spoilers ahead, so keep that in mind if you want to read on.
Joe Skrebels of IGN reported on a group of fans who took it upon themselves to translate the fictional Sheikah script that appears on the felt map included in Breath of the WIld's highly sought-after Special Edition. The text was first translated to Japanese and then English. According to YouTuber Zeltik, the script is interpreted as the following:
"Hylians pass stories of a destined time long past where multiple races lived and worked together in harmony. The Sheikah Tribe's blue aura breathed through the land and this mutual prosperity continued until a cataclysmic disaster stuck. The Hero and the Princess attempted to seal the terror which became known as the Calamity Ganon. Divine beasts awoke from four directions and deployed a mechanical army which made the King and his people fearful. They fractured Ganon's power and sealed him but the Sheikah were banished from the land ever since."
If this is indeed accurate, it should give us a glimpse into the state of Hyrule in the upcoming game. Breath of the Wild is already set to be one of the biggest Nintendo Switch games of the year when it drops on Mar. 3, so we're looking forward to seeing if this translation drums up more hype for fans.
