If you've ever dreamed of seeing a gargantuan showdown between Mario and Bowser, now is your chance to live out such a fantasy.
While Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury won't take a lot of time to beat, there are plenty of collectibles to help extend your experience. Even if you've figured out how many Cat Shines are in Bowser's Fury, you may be wondering how to get all those Cat Shines.
If you're having a bit of trouble, this guide will help you obtain some of the hardest Cat Shines in Bowser's Fury.
The key to getting this Cat Shine in Pounce Bounce isle
On Pounce Bounce Isle, you will encounter a task called "Key to the Cat Shine," which, as the title suggests, requires a key to unlock the Shine. How do you find that key?
If you hit the Question Blocks near the caged shine, they will become Propeller Blocks. Using this item will make it easier to quickly scale the tower in front and to the left of the cage. Once you reach the top, you'll see a red bounce platform. This will jettison you to the wall where you will find the key. Using the Propeller Block will make it even easier to land on top of the wall. From there, grab the key and return it to the caged Shine.
Greysun Morales of Game Rant suggests that you take your time after finding the key, as it will vanish if you so much as get hit, touch water, or even grab another item. Also bear in mind that you can't wall jump while holding the key, so plan accordingly.
Shoot for the sky to get this Cat Shine
When you reach Ruins Giga Bell, you might notice a little floating island up in the sky. If you're wondering whether there's a Cat Shine hidden up there, the answer is yes. But how in the world are you supposed to make it to this island?
You'll find a wall built out of "Fury Blocks." These can only be crushed by the flaming breath of Fury Bowser. When you encounter the giant Koopa King, hide behind this wall so that the fire he sends your way will incinerate those blocks, revealing a pipe cannon that leads directly to the floating island. Hop in and fire away!
Once you land, you'll see a series of broken platforms with Dash Panels. It may look intimidating, but it's fairly easy from there. Simply hit the first Panel and you'll notice that invisible clouds become visible as you sprint across the gaps. Just keep Mario steady and it's a straight shot all the way to the end, where the Cat Shine awaits.
Of course, if you don't want to wait on the beast, there's a way to instantly summon Fury Bowser. Anyone with a Bowser amiibo can use it to summon the beast himself.
Cat Shine in Blue Coin Bustle
The icy Cat Shine challenge "Blue Coin Bustle," found in Slipskate Slope is so challenging that one user on Reddit called it the hardest Shine to collect. However, nabbing this Shine isn't impossible; it just requires some skillful maneuvering.
To start, hop on a blue P-Switch to make the coins appear. The clock begins from there, but don't let its ticking throw you off. You have to collect all of the blue coins that appear in order to summon this Cat Shine. Jump into the golden ice skate in front of you and begin your descent. The ice skate will allow you to glide over spikes, but the controls are still rather slippery. As such, a trick that can help is to intentionally crash your skate into the first platform you encounter. This will knock Mario out of the skate and back on his feet, giving you greater control when collecting the remaining coins in the first set.
After the first round, a new batch of coins will appear. There will be another ice skate so you can move fast enough to gather the rest of the coins. Steadily and carefully navigate through the spike tunnel, and the rest shouldn't be too tricky.
