How Many Cat Shines Are In Bowser's Fury?
Super Mario games are, at this point, well known for all the collectibles typically stored within them. Sometimes these hidden items are just there for the completionists. Other times, Mario can't progress the story forward without finding at least a few. This devotion to collectibles returns in Bowser's Fury, the new game mode that comes packed in with the port of Super Mario 3D World for Nintendo Switch. In Bowser's Fury, Mario is tasked with locating and grabbing what are called "Cat Shines."
If you're at all familiar with Super Mario Sunshine, you might remember the Shine Sprites Mario had to track down in the game. According to the Super Mario Wiki, Cat Shines serve a similar purpose in Bowser's Fury, though the look of them is obviously different — there's a cat face in the middle. Mario needs to find five of them to turn on what's called a Giga Bell and take on his cat form for a bout with Bowser. That's all fine and well, but you may be wondering: how many Cat Shines are there in Bowser's Fury? Below, you'll find your answer.
There are a LOT of Cat Shines to find
When you first learned about Bowser's Fury, you may have wondered how big the experience would be. Would Nintendo really go all-out on the mode when it could've just sold Super Mario 3D World on its own? Judging by the Cat Shines, at least, it seems like you'll have quite a bit to do when you load up Bowser's Fury for the first time. If searching every nook and cranny for collectibles is your jam, you won't find this new experience lacking.
As Screen Rant has detailed, there are a total of 100 Cat Shines to find in Bowser's Fury. If past Super Mario titles offer any clues, some will be a bit easier to find than others. Bowser's Fury isn't the size of a full-on Super Mario game; it reportedly adds three hours or so to the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury package. Perhaps you can extend your playtime, though, by dedicating yourself to hunting down every single Cat Shine in existence.
