Everything You Need To Know About Apex Legends Season 8
A new year, a new season for Apex Legends. Last time audiences got their hands on some fresh Apex Legends content, they received the gravity master Horizon, the Olympus map, and new items in the form of vehicles and gun charms. But that was Season 7, and this is Season 8. Not quite "out with the old, in with the new"; more like, "pile on the new to go along with the old."
Gamers have a lot to look forward to with Apex Legends' Season 8. As per usual, fans can expect a fresh-faced character to hit the scene, some new Battle Pass rewards, as well as plenty of other content. But who exactly is joining the game's ever-growing roster? What toys will audiences get to play with this time? Will you have to throw out your old gaming map strategies and replace them with new ones? Keep on reading, especially if you want to get the drop on the competition.
Who is coming to Apex Legends Season 8?
There ain't no rest for the wicked, especially in Apex Legends. Gamers have been shooting their way through Season 7 ever since Nov. 4, and Season 8 is almost ready to begin. It won't start until next month, but since next month is almost here, you won't have to wait long.
Starting Feb. 2, players can participate in the upcoming season, codenamed "Mayhem." The star of the show and new playable character will be Fuse, a cocky showboat from Salvo who loves explosions and treats personal loss of limbs like flesh wounds. And, he's bringing his favorite weapon: the 30-30 repeater. This lever-action rifle is a common sight on Salvo, so expect it to be almost as common in future Apex Legends matches.
Moreover, the King's Canyon map will receive a facelift, courtesy of Fuse's ex-partner in crime. She isn't happy that Salvo joined the Mercenary Syndicate — or that Fuse gets to serve as Salvo's face in the Apex Games. Expect a few new craters to decorate the canyon.
What new rewards can players expect?
In past Apex Legends updates, each season brought a new Battle Pass with limited-time prizes, and Season 8 is no different. Players can look forward to over 100 new items, including character skins, Apex Packs, and Holo-Sprays.
Unfortunately, Respawn Entertainment has kept the specifics of these upcoming baubles under wraps. However, rumors abound of new skins for characters such as Wraith, Bloodhound, and Horizon, as well as new gun charms. However, not all potentially leaked rewards stem from the Battle Pass. For example, one possible upcoming Caustic skin could be exclusive to Twitch Prime subscribers.
On a side note, word of an Apex Legends Nintendo Switch port has made the rounds since Season 6, but it has yet to drop. However, non-English versions of the new trailer accidentally revealed Season 8 may mark the first time gamers can play Apex Legends on the go with a Switch version. While the descriptions have been scrubbed of any Switch port mention, don't be surprised if this gaffe turns out to be true.
