These Are The First PlayStation Plus Games Of 2021
PlayStation Plus users are in for a treat when the new year arrives. On Jan. 5, 2021, subscribers to the service will have two PS4 titles and one PS5 title to play for free. The games in this month's lineup include Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Greedfall, and the PS5 exclusive, Maneater.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a PS4 action adventure game that follows Lara Croft journeying into South America in search of a way to stop a Maya apocalypse. This title focuses on stealth gameplay as Lara uses her surroundings to hide from enemies and strike when they least suspect it. As the final entry in Crystal Dynamic's reboot of the Tomb Raider series, this is Lara's most recent adventure, and it will be available for free for PlayStation Plus members. Since its release, a variety of DLC packs have been added to the game to help flesh out the game's plot and mechanics. It does not appear that the Definitive Edition of the game — which includes all of the game's DLC — is the version of the game that will be on the service.
The second PS4 title, Greedfall, is a pseudo-historical action RPG that takes place on a remote island during the 17th century. Players will take on the role of De Sardet, a human who arrived on the island, only to discover that the natives and the colonists are at odds with each other. The player will eventually have to choose a side to ally with as they proceed to make certain choices that impact the game's story. Greedfall has a ton of different mechanics, including a romance system, magic spells, class options, and plenty of objectives to complete. The game is definitely a must-play for PlayStation Plus members who are looking for a new RPG to sink some time into.
The final game in the 2021 lineup is the PlayStation 5 version of Maneater. The game is an open-world simulator that gives players a chance to experience what it's like to be an actual shark. The main focus of Maneater is to kill or be killed. The player's shark will hunt a variety of sea critters, before eventually getting strong enough to take on human prey. The title's flashy and bloody gameplay is showcased when the player jumps several feet into the air to snag unsuspecting humans who are out fishing on their boat in the middle of the ocean. In addition to allowing players to devour everything in sight, Maneater offers a large ocean to explore and complete tasks to help further evolve your shark.
All the games in this lineup will be available for PlayStation Plus members to play on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021.
