The Epic Justice League Game That Never Saw The Light Of Day

DC Comics' most acclaimed superhero team is undoubtedly the Justice League. The original combination of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter have saved the world on numerous occasions. And in the years since that first incarnation of the team came to pass, different members have been thrown into the fray to continue upholding the crew's brand of superheroics.

To the surprise of no one, the Justice League have appeared in their fair share of video games. While a good number of them are disappointingly mediocre, there's also a selection of games for the team that are certainly above average quality. Some of the best games that focus on the exploits of DC's top superhero team include Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and Injustice: Gods Among Us.

It's crazy to fathom how we almost got a movie tie-in Justice League game at one point. Judging by the leaked screenshots and footage of that title, it looked like a solid brawler that could have been a blast in a multiplayer setting, but sadly, we never even got the chance to experience it.

We almost got a Justice League game from Double Helix for PS3 and Xbox 360

Double Helix Games was tapped to work on a Justice League video game for PS3 and Xbox 360.

The game was set up as a movie tie-in for a film about the team that was under development at the time, and what makes that film sound even grander was the fact that George Miller was put in the director's chair for it. As for the game itself, it was simply titled Justice League and was slated to be a third-person beat 'em up. Players were slated to take control of one of the team's finest and travel to recognizable DC Comics locales to beat down waves of baddies.

Along with taking down a flood of villains, players would get to engage in boss encounters with major foes such as Mongul, Professor Zoom, and Sinestro. A Versus mode was also slated for the game, which would allow two players to choose Justice League members and even the game's bosses for 1v1 arena battles.

Justice League never saw the light of day, however. The film was shelved beforehand, while the game was cancelled sometime in 2010.
