Things Are Getting Worse For Apex Legends Season 7

Season 7 of Apex Legends was touting some exciting new features at launch. A new map, a new Legend named Horizon who packed some awesome new abilities, and a new vehicle were all attractive prospects for players to try out. However, some big changes to the game's Battle Pass were not as pretty.

The trouble first started when players began to notice that progression through Apex Legends' Season 7 Battle Pass was taking much too long, and that earning XP had become an arduous task. In response to the fans' understandable anger over the issue, Respawn Entertainment (the game's developer) quickly remedied their mistake.

Respawn also issued a statement in response to a question on Reddit which asked why the change was made in the first place. "We believed that players would enjoy playing the game if they always had something to progress and earn," explained game director Chad Grenier. "We heard your feedback loud and clear, and quickly put in a change that makes the challenges roughly 50% easier to complete."

If the developers thought that all of the issues for Season 7 of Apex Legends were over and done with, they were sorely mistaken. The other big change made to the Battle Pass was the new reward system, which awarded players with Stars upon challenge completion. Earning 10 Stars would allow players to unlock a rank — but there's a disturbing catch. One Reddit user discovered that the Stars a player earns will reset to zero at the beginning of the week, so any progress made is basically cancelled out.

Luckily, the post was viewed by Respawn director Ryan K. Rigney, who made reassurances in the comments that it was likely a fixable issue: "My guess: it's probably a consequence of the recent changes we've been patching in on the backend to improve the BP . . . We'll fix [it], hang tight." He also said that he hoped to have the problem corrected by the end of the day on Nov. 12.

The latest problems with Season 7 have some fans asking why Respawn won't simply revert to the game's original Battle Pass system, but the developers insist they have the players' best interests at heart. "Respawn is made up of passionate players just like yourself," Grenier insisted in his Reddit post. "I promise you everyone here on the team are good people, and just want what's best for the game."
