How Long Does It Take To Beat Watch Dogs: Legion?
Watch Dogs: Legion is the latest entry in Ubisoft's Watch Dogs franchise, and the company has tried its best to keep the game in the public's eye. Ubisoft temporarily unleashed a wave of viral marketing by plastering Watch Dogs: Legion iconography onto Ubisoft games in the Xbox store. And, the company revealed that upcoming Legion DLC will let players control Watch Dogs alum Aiden Pearce. However, for all the attention Ubisoft has given Legion, the company never told gamers how much of a time investment the game will require.
Like previous Watch Dogs titles, Watch Dogs: Legion is an open world game, and many audiences expect those kinds of titles to feature story lengths proportional to their in-game square mileage. If a title with a sizable game world can be finished in a short amount of time, then what is the point of crafting so much digital landmass? Few game features are more insulting than worlds that are big for the sake of being big and nothing else.
So the question remains: Does Watch Dogs: Legion fill its take on a futuristic, dystopian London with enough content to last a good while, or is the game so short you are better off saving your time and money for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla?
You won't need a long time to finish this game, but completing it is a fool's errand
If you played Watch Dogs and/or Watch Dogs 2, the games probably lasted you around 19 to 28 hours and 19 to 30 hours, respectively. According to most outlets, Watch Dogs: Legion's campaign will take the same amount of time, give or take a few recruitment missions. Completionist runs, however, may be downright impossible.
GameSpot clocked Legion's main campaign — including some recruitment and side missions — at around around 25 hours to finish everything. However, GameSpot concluded it is impossible to "complete" the game. While Legion features a finite number of collectibles, the number of recruitable characters is infinite. Since it would take an infinite amount of time to enlist infinite NPCs, it is therefore impossible to truly complete Watch Dogs: Legion.
Shack News, meanwhile, had a more conservative campaign estimate: 15-25 hours, depending on how many characters you conscript, how long it takes to recruit them, and if you stop to smell the side missions. As with GameSpot, Shack News didn't bother calculating completionist runs.
The general consensus is Watch Dogs: Legion will take the average gamer around 25 hours, but this only applies to the base game. Ubisoft has plenty of DLC in the works, including extra story missions and expansions. Only time will tell how much additional content the company will bring to the table.
