How To Clean Your Sword In Ghost Of Tsushima

As you undertake your journey in Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima, you're going to come upon enemies. And you're going to fight those enemies. In fact, you're going to get their blood all over your sword (and everywhere else, too — you'll see some geysers, that's for sure!). When that happens, you're going to want to pull off the cool move seen in earlier gameplay trailers for the title, when your character, Jin Sakai, cleans his blade.

Just in case you were wondering, there's no gameplay advantage to having Jin Sakai clean the blade — for the most part, townspeople don't care if you're walking around with it. It's just a cool trick that looks fun and adds to the aesthetics of the game. It takes a little time, so if you're in a hurry you might want to skip the step and wait for until after the next bloodbath to clean your weapon off.

In real life, though, you'd never run around with a bloody sword, so take care of your virtual one with one quick move.

Just use this simple swipe to clean your sword

To activate the blade-cleaning animation, simply swipe right on the PlayStation 4 controller's touchpad. This not only has Jin clean his sword, he'll sheathe it and put it away as well. While you're at it, try out Ghost of Tsushima's photo mode and take a snap of yourself posing!

The central touchpad on the PlayStation DualShock 4 controller, which is often ignored in games, actually has a number of uses in Ghost of Tsushima. This is a nice little perk of the game that you'll want to investigate further. If you swipe left, you can pull out, play, and put away your flute. If you swipe up, you'll intensify the Guiding Wind that points you toward your next objective.

Also, you don't have to worry about swiping right on the touchpad to get your sword out again. Once you attack or defend, you'll automatically unsheathe your weapon. Play on!
