Apex Legends Season 5 Start Date, Battle Pass, And Map
Apex Legends Season 5 – Fortune's Favor arrives sooner than you think. The upcoming update will cram plenty of fresh features into the game, including quests you can complete during matches for juicy rewards. Loba, a brand new Legend, is also on the way.
Due to her direct connection to Revenant, Loba will open up another chapter in the Apex Legends story. Revenant killed her parents, and, like Inigo Montoya before her, Loba has spent her life preparing for the day she gets to take her revenge.
Beyond the new character and narrative elements, Season 5 will bring a host of new content to the table. From the start date and Battle Pass to map changes, here's what you need to known about Season 5 of Apex Legends.
When does Apex Legends Season 5 start?
Apex Legends Season 4 landed in February 2020, complete with a boatload of new Battle Pass items, a new weapon, and the Legend Revenant. Respawn Entertainment must be burning the midnight oil because Season 5 is just around the corner.
Starting May 12, players can dive into the Season 5 action and start racking up kills as Loba. While Electronic Arts and Respawn have been tight-lipped regarding her abilities, the companies unveiled two videos that show off her backstory (and connection to Revenant) and her skills with a gun, teleportation bracelet, and combat cane.
Though Season 5 isn't far off, the wait might feel like an eternity given these impressive teasers.
What can you expect from the Apex Legends Season 5 Battle Pass?
As of this writing, Respawn has yet to explicitly reveal what gamers can expect from the Season 5 Battle Pass. However, the studio promises "over 100 exclusive items," including Legendary skins and Apex Packs.
When Season 4 dropped with the assassin-android Revenant, the associated Battle Pass was thematically appropriate and gave characters tons of ghoulish makeovers to match the new Legend. Players could unlock the Perfect Soldier and Cyber Punked skins for Wraith and Wattson (respectively), new sky dive emotes, new gun charms and skins, and lots of Revenant-inspired music packs and loading screens.
If Respawn continues this trend, the Season 5 Battle Pass will feature more skins — this time styled after Loba — and even more gun charms, emotes, loading screens, and weapon skins. With any luck, the developers will soon draw back the curtain and unveil what Season 5 has in store.
Will there be any map changes in Apex Legends Season 5?
Respawn has been cagey about upcoming map changes. The company hasn't been silent, but the information the developers have provided is difficult to decipher.
Last month, players found an Easter egg of what appeared to be a map for a mysterious underground facility. Fast forward to a May 4 tweet from the official Apex Legends Twitter account containing an expanded version of the map, this time as a GIF that also displays an above-ground dome. Many gamers agree this is a depiction of a new location in Kings Canyon, and the teasers imply combatants might have a new underground area to explore and fight in.
Assuming the rumor is true, Respawn will also probably take something away. The Season 5 launch trailer features the demolition of an underground laboratory full of Revenants. More importantly, the trailer shows a very familiar skull sinking into the water beneath the area where the lab used to be. Apparently the facility was situated underneath Skull Town, which probably means players will have to say bye-bye to the area come Season 5.
Of course, these theories are unconfirmed. Skull Town might be safe and sound when the update launches. Just be prepared either way.
