Pokemon Becomes More Relaxing Than Ever In This Video
Have you ever wanted to take a break from your stressful days as a Pokemon trainer? Do you ever feel like the only thing you're not catching all of is a little bit of sleep? Good news, gang: Pokemon ASMR is now officially a thing, and it's the cutest.
Yesterday, the official Pokemon Youtube channel released a thirty-minute ASMR video featuring Charmander. In this video, the Gen 1 favorite snuggles up next to a crackling campfire.
For those not in the know, ASMR stands for "autonomous sensory meridian response," and it's kind of an amorphous concept that has become a genre all to itself. As explained by Vox, "ASMR is the term for the sensation people get when they watch stimulating videos or take part in other activities — usually ones that involve personal attention." This is why so many ASMR videos involve quiet sound effects, like running water or whispering. The intended effect is usually to help one relax.
Not only is the video, called "Charmander's Fireside Slumber," relaxing, but it's also unbelievably cute. It opens with Charmander using the small fire on its tail to light the campfire next to it. Over the course of the video, Charmander lightly tosses in his sleep, occasionally yawning in its little lizard voice.
It's as simple as it gets, which is kind of the point. With so much of the Pokemon franchise being based around battling, there's something so wonderfully relaxing about just letting one of these little guys get a good nap in.
This video has arrived hot on the heels of the announcement of new DLC for Pokemon Sword and Shield. Since those won't be arriving for a little bit, may we suggest that Game Freak include ASMR sessions as part of the expanded content? After a long day of fighting against the forces of Macro Cosmos, your trainer may just want to sit back and listen to a nice crackling fire.
