Mortal Kombat 11's Joker Is Not Your Friend
Are you ready to finally play as Joker in Mortal Kombat 11? The well-known Batman villain is coming to the roster very soon, and it's safe to say that — like Mortal Kombat 11 in general — Joker's toolset is not for the squeamish.
A trailer released today give us a much closer look at how Gotham's most notorious criminal will survive in a title full of seasoned fighting game characters, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator T-800, and eventually, Spawn. The answer? By using every dirty trick in the book.
Joker has a blade. Joker has a gun. Joker whips out giant extendable boxing gloves — outfitted with brass knucks, no less — that pummel opponents regardless of whether they're upright or flat on their backs. He'll wind up a box toy and watch it explode in your face. He'll even send a tied-up clone your way; one that'll eventually go off like a bomb.
And wow, that Fatality.
The Fatality shown off in the Joker trailer starts off looking like a Friendship. Joker turns away from his opponent, only to spin back holding a giant cake. How thoughtful! Except, of course, this is Joker. The cake is an explosive, which goes off and blasts the other fighter skyward. Joker then pulls out a machine gun, which fires with such force it pins the fighter to the "Friendship" sign while also blasting away their limbs.
Finally, the letters fall off the sign to reveal "Fatality." The opponent falls, the sign falls on them, and they're gruesomely split in half. Welcome to Mortal Kombat 11.
Those eager to use Joker in the game won't have very long to wait. The character will enter early access on Jan. 28, and will be available for all buyers on Feb. 4. One more DLC character — the aforementioned Spawn — is due out on March 17.
