That Breath Of The Wild Copycat Is Getting A Switch Release
Genshin Impact caused quite a stir when it was first revealed, as — let's be honest — the game looks a whole lot like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Back then, though, it was only coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and iOS. Now it looks like this clone will also challenge Link on his home turf.
That's right: Genshin Impact is reportedly getting a Nintendo Switch release, too. Will we get to see anyone destroy their Switch in disgust?
The similarities between Genshin Impact and Breath of the Wild are pretty stunning. The former appears to ape the latter's very distinct art style, and also uses a lot of very ancient-looking environments. Some of Genshin Impact's enemies look as though they were pulled straight from Breath of the Wild. And don't even get us started on the musical score. It seems whoever came up with the tunes found in developer miHoYo's title was very inspired by The Legend of Zelda.
But while some might view this release as sacrilege, we're honestly looking forward to it. After all, not many games have tried to emulate Breath of the Wild so closely. Now that we'll get to see both games on the same system, we can put them side by side and see how truly alike they really are. Where will Genshin Impact succeed in its attempt to be Breath of the Wild? Where will it fail? These are questions we're dying to have answered.
As of now, there is no confirmed release date for Genshin Impact. According to Nintendo Life, miHoYo has backed off of its promised 2020 release, and has instead opted for something a little more vague — "to be announced." We'll have to wait and see if the developers behind this Breath of the Wild clone can wrap up work and get the game out this year. If we hear something new regarding its release, we'll let you know.
