Creative Ways People Are Cheating In Borderlands 3
Shooting and looting your way through the galaxy in Borderlands 3 can be loads of fun, but sometimes, people find more efficient ways to do things — even if it breaks the game a little bit. You can call it cheating or call it smart play, but regardless, it's undeniable that some players use these tactics.
Of course, Gearbox is always on the hunt to patch whatever exploits it can. Early in the life of Borderlands 3, players found a way to farm Loot Tinks to get tons of legendary gear pretty quickly. Gearbox swiftly stopped that with a hotfix, understandably so. But it's only a matter of time before players find more glitches in the Borderlands matrix.
With the game being so young, new exploits are being invented or found fairly often. So here's a quick rundown of some creative ways people have been cheating in Borderlands 3.
Return of the Loot Tink exploit
Gearbox may have patched that Loot Tink exploit early in Borderlands 3's life, but it didn't take long for a new one to surface. Players found another way to manipulate the Loot Tinks of Eden-6. First, you need to head to the home planet of the Jakobs corporation.
This exploit is easiest if you're playing Amara, but the other Vault Hunters can do this trick too. Essentially, once you've found a Loot Tink, let it try and escape from you. It'll start burrowing into the ground. Partway through that animation, shoot it to make it stop, then immediately freeze it. Amara can do this with her Phasegrasp ability, while the others will need a special grenade: the legendary Sticky Quasar with the mod that homes in on enemies.
After you freeze the Tink, it will be completely immobile until you kill it thanks to this glitch. All you need to do now is pull out a low-power weapon and shoot its backpack as much as you want. Every time you do, a new piece of loot shoots out with varying degrees of rarity. By law of large numbers, though, if you do it enough, you'll find a few legendaries.
Killing Graveward in one shot (even in Mayhem 4)
Of all the bosses in Borderlands 3, Graveward might be one of the easiest to farm, especially thanks to a long-running exploit in the community. You can pretty consistently one-shot the boss on almost any difficulty.
Unfortunately, to get the core items required for this exploit, you'll need to do a lot of farming. At the very least, it comes down to two weapons: the Scourge and the Unforgiven. The Scourge is a rocket launcher that can do massive damage with its slow-moving projectile, and it does even more to Graveward if has the fire elemental property. The Unforgiven is a pistol that increases critical hit damage by up to 400% when you hold it. Another big part of the build is an artifact that boosts your elemental damage if you're suffering from that elemental effect. Then, if you set yourself on fire, the Scourge will do even more damage.
To pull this off, all you need to do is aim the Scourge at the Graveward's weak point, set yourself on fire, and then equip the Unforgiven. The higher the Mayhem level, the more likely you'll need extra damage boosters, but the core strategy is pretty reliable.
The fastest gun in the galaxy
Have you ever noticed those shields that give you a boost in fire rate whenever they're depleted? They're pretty helpful in combat, especially when you're in a dire situation. They could give you that last oomph you need to pump out enough damage before you die, and even when you go down, that extra fire rate helps.
Wouldn't it be broken if you could stack that effect permanently? Well, it turns out that you can absolutely do that in Borderlands 3. It can be a little expensive, but if high fire rate is what you want, it's worth it. All you need to do is jump off the map, over and over again. Really, it's that simple. For one reason or another, when you respawn, you don't lose the extra fire rate from your previous life. This carries over into the next life, and the one after that, and so on.
In other words, if your shield would give you +10% fire rate when depleted, ten deaths would virtually double your fire rate. Just make sure your shields never deplete while you're out and about; once they regenerate, you lose the fire rate buff.
