GTA 5's Trevor Has A Tragic Idea For GTA 6

We've already learned some big details about "GTA 6," like where the game will take place and who some of the main characters are going to be. There are undoubtedly still some big surprises left for Rockstar to reveal and even more to discover in-game, and some people are holding out hope that one of those surprises will be a cameo from a familiar face. In fact, Steven Ogg — the actor behind Trevor from "GTA 5" — thinks he knows just the way to do it. Unfortunately, it's a pretty heartbreaking pitch.

Ogg has talked about potentially returning as Trevor in the past, but with "GTA 6" tantalizingly close, the possibility of Trevor's appearance seems more real than it has in years. With that said, Ogg's idea for Trevor's grand reappearance would almost certainly leave some fans disappointed. "It would be fun if Trevor appeared in ['GTA 6'] just to be killed at the beginning," Ogg told ScreenRant. "I think that would be cool." Of course, the fact that he's talking about ideas for the character at all has some serious implications for what we can expect in "GTA 6."

Is it too late for Trevor to die?

The cast of "GTA 5" has talked pretty openly about their experiences with the franchise, and Steven Ogg has expressed some mixed feelings about being Trevor. On the one hand, Ogg has repeatedly made it clear that he loved the gig, but he's also been frustrated by how much fans of "GTA" associate him with his character. In a viral Cameo video requested by YouTuber Hugo One, Ogg infamously said, "[Hugo One] wanted me to give you this message from Trevor, which of course, I'm not Trevor. My name is Steven, and I'm an actor ... it's a cartoon, and I'm real life."

Considering Ogg's somewhat strained relationship with Trevor, it shouldn't be too surprising that he doesn't want to be a major part of "GTA 6." Talking with ScreenRant, Ogg explained why he'd like to see Trevor die in the next game: "I think that would be cool, because it also acknowledges the fans of like, 'Hey, thank you.' Pass the torch, stomp Trevor's head in, and sort of put an end to that and allow a new generation to take over." He's not wrong; a similar tactic was used to introduce Trevor in "GTA 5," where the character killed "GTA 4: The Lost and Damned" protagonist Johnny Klebitz.

It remains to be seen if fans would support seeing Trevor's death on-screen, but the fact that Ogg was floating the idea as recently as January 2025 means that he probably hasn't done any motion capture work for "GTA 6" just yet. Rockstar has been largely silent about the game's release date, but it's likely way too late for Ogg's idea to make it into the game by the time it launches.

We've already missed out on more Trevor content

It's a little disappointing to think that we probably won't see Trevor in "GTA 6," especially because we've already missed out on some bonus appearances from him in the past. For years now, Rockstar has been dealing with ongoing leaks that have put everything from early game footage to old planning documents online for everyone to see. Leaks have revealed that there were originally plans to bring Trevor back for a "GTA 5" DLC.

Ogg confirmed last year that "GTA 5" DLC existed at one point, but worked ceased on it before it was ever completed. Ogg said that he actually filmed motion capture scenes involving Trevor going undercover and acting as a secret agent. According to Ogg, Rockstar never reached out to finish the story, and we now know that the original DLC plans were halted so the company could put more energy into "GTA Online." Who knows, though: Maybe some of these ideas will see the light of day in "GTA 6" DLC, especially now that Steven Ogg has expressed interest in returning.
