Borderlands 3 Just Got A Destiny Gun
Clearly some of the people at Gearbox Software are fans of Bungie's Destiny franchise. A recent update to Borderland 3 brought some bug fixes and tacked on a new endgame mode called Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite. It also tossed in a new gun, however; one that'll give Destiny players a case of deja vu.
The gun is called Good Juju. Its headlining perk allows the weapon to refill its own magazine after kills. The flavor text reads, "Kinda, sorta wants to end all existence." And there appears to be some kind of creature fused into this bad boy. If you've played any of the original Destiny, or if you took part in Destiny 2's Season of Opulence, you'll know immediately what this gun is trying to emulate.
For everyone else: this is basically the Borderlands 3 version of Bad Juju.
In the Destiny universe, Bad Juju is a little more capable, though that's because Destiny and Borderlands 3 are not the same game. You'll find similarities in one of the perks shared by the two guns — the ability to reload their magazines after kills. Both weapons feature a sort of carcass melded to them. And Bad Juju's flavor text goes as follows: "If you believe your weapon wants to end all existence, then so it will."
The difference, it seems, is in the powers the two guns grant players. Bad Juju ups the ante a little more than Good Juju, as kills also make the gun more powerful, and grant players Super energy, as well. But Borderlands 3 doesn't really have "Supers" to speak of, so on that one, we can give Good Juju a pass.
You can reportedly nab yourself a Good Juju by cranking The Rampager up to Mayhem Mode 4. So if you're a Destiny die-hard who is currently exploring the world of Borderlands 3 — or you don't play Destiny at all but still want this very cool gun — there's no better time than the present. Hopefully Borderlands 3 adds a take on the Leviathan's Breath bow next.
