Fatal Fury's Mai Is Too Hot For Smash Bros., According To Sakurai

A new fighter burst onto the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate scene today. Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard faces the fury in the newest DLC pack that adds in this beloved SNK character, a King of Fighters Stadium stage, and 50 music tracks. This apparently wasn't enough for fans, who are wondering if Fatal Fury's female mascot will be added. Sorry, but according to Sakurai himself, Mai Shiranui is too hot for Super Smash Bros.

Sakurai asked for fans' forgiveness in a tongue-in-cheek kind of interview, saying, "By the way, you may have noticed that a very important character from the Fatal Fury series was not included. Yes, Mai Shiranui. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is for good boys and girls of many different ages, so we decided not to feature her. Please forgive us."

Mai is the series' iconic "Alluring Ninja Girl." She is so popular with fans that it's hard to find promotional art of Fatal Fury that doesn't feature her. Her signature look, however, isn't exactly PG. Mai is all hips, curves, and winks as she takes the word "alluring" to a whole new level. To be frank, she is something of a sex symbol. Official artwork and figurines of her are seriously NSFW. We understand why Sakurai wasn't willing to add Mai to the game that "good boys and girls of many different ages" play.

We'll have to be satisfied with the inclusion of Terry and Terry alone to get our Fatal Fury fix. Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that many other fighters have been included in this new DLC, in a sense. Characters like Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Tung Fu Rue, Athena Asamiya, Iori Yagami, and more cheer on Terry from the King of Fighters stadium stands. Mai is not there, notably. Perhaps she could be if she put on a sweater or something.
