Overwatch 2 Has Four More Characters We Don't Know About
Overwatch, like most Blizzard games, is incredibly popular, with a growing esports scene and a dedicated community. Some were surprised to hear that a sequel had been announced at this years BlizzCon, since Overwatch has been continuously placed in the same category as other "games as a service" titles that continue to pump out new content.
So now Overwatch 2 is officially a thing, and everyone wants to know what will be new in this sequel. Most of all, people want to know which new characters will be coming to the game. These details are being kept extremely close to the chest of Blizzard, but a few reporters were allowed to have a peek at what's to come.
One writer's experience behind the scenes at BlizzCon had him meeting with game director of Overwatch 2, Jeff Kaplan. In this meeting, reporters were shown a PowerPoint slideshow hitting the highlights of the new game, and at one point, a slide was shown with four silhouettes of characters that had no names and no descriptions. The impression many got was that three of the four were female, with the male being some sort of wizard or warlock with a long, crooked staff. One of the female characters seemed to stand out, though: this one apparently had a small animal with her that was like a miniature fox. This unknown female character carried a large four-sided weapon, as well.
Overwatch is known for it's over-the-top character design, so this weapon could literally be anything (which is always a plus). Kaplan blazed through the presentation, not giving the onlookers a chance to really sink their teeth into the new designs. It might have been all part of the plan, to get that hype train onto the tracks and out of the station. But we'll see.
Overwatch 2 has no release date.
