Death Stranding Is Coming To PC In 2020

Death Stranding will no longer be stranded on the PlayStation 4. Rather than being exclusive to Sony's console, Hideo Kojima's strange, cinematic masterpiece will be coming to PC in summer of 2020.

This news comes from a tweet from Kojima Productions saying that, "KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS is happy to announce that DEATH STRANDING will be coming to PC in early summer of 2020!!" Those are some exciting exclamation points. Originally, Death Stranding was announced as a PlayStation exclusive, as other triple-A titles like God of War and The Last of Us had been before it. This switch up isn't all that surprising, as it turns out. Rumors have been swirling about whether Death Stranding would eventually make its way to PC for quite some time.

Death Stranding PC rumors have been around for a while

Back in August, the whispers started after the game was quietly delisted as a PS4 exclusive on the Sony site. At the time, there was no official word as to whether this meant that Death Stranding for the PC would be a thing. Kojima and Sony had been buddy-buddy ever since they gave him free reign to make whatever kind of weird and wonderful game he wanted, so it seemed doubtful that we'd ever see Death Stranding anywhere but the PlayStation. Now, however, we have official confirmation that we were right to whisper and wonder.

Death Stranding on PC may have always been in the cards. Before we even knew the strange name or premise (let's be real: we still don't know exactly what this game is about), it was apparently mentioned in a Q&A from Sony that the game would first come to PS4, with a PC release to follow. Somewhere along the way things changed before this plan was, to much fanfare today, reinstated.

Too eager to wait? Death Stranding will be released for the PS4 on Nov. 8
