Rumor: Diablo 4 Seemingly Confirmed By Art Book Leak
Could it be? A whisper of Diablo 4? Blizzard has been infamously tight-lipped about the much-anticipated next entry in the beloved Diablo franchise. However, a listing for a Blizzard artbook called The Art of Diablo may have just let slip that Blizzard will be telling us more about Diablo 4 very, very soon.
According to a German ad for The Art of Diablo, the book features "artworks from Diablo, Diablo II, Diablo III and Diablo IV." Diablo IV, you say? That's some big news, Blizzard has never officially confirmed the fact that the studio is developing Diablo 4. It has been something of an open secret, though, with many rumors suggesting that the game has been in the works for years. In fact, the rumors are likely why the announcement of the mobile game Diablo: Immortal flopped so spectaurally hard at BlizzCon 2018. Many fans had their hopes set on a full-fledged PC title rather than a mobile game, and they didn't get one.
This year, BlizzCon might be what Diablo fans have been hoping for since the release of Diablo 3 back in 2012. We'll just have to wait and see if the announcement (should it happen) isn't overshadowed by Blizzard's other controversies.
The artbook is meant to release on Nov. 3, right in the middle of BlizzCon 2019. Already fans are expecting some Diablo-themed announcements at the convention this year, and signs suggest that — at long last — fans will hear about Diablo 4. This book release may just be one of those signs.
We have our fingers crossed that this book is indicative that Diablo 4 is not only going to be a real game that we can get our hands on one day, but that we'll get our first glimpses early next month at BlizzCon. Blizzard could use good press, and a Diablo 4 announcement could be an effective way to get some.
