Mortal Kombat 11 Leak Reveals Fujin As A Potential New Character
We thought we had a pretty good idea of which characters are coming to Mortal Kombat 11 as part of its Kombat Pack 1, yet the team at NetherRealm Studios is once again throwing us for a loop. Audio files were discovered in the game's latest update that belong to a potential new character, but it's not one that's been announced yet.
Do you remember Fujin, the God of Wind?
Fujin (pictured alongside Raiden up top) hasn't been a part of a Mortal Kombat roster since 2006's Armageddon, though he has appeared in other MK titles in either a cameo or non-playable-character capacity. It seems players have stumbled onto voice files inside Mortal Kombat 11's latest update that say, "FUJIN WINS" in a few different ways, and these same players now believe this is confirmation that Fujin will be joining the MK11 roster in the future.
Lending credence to that theory is the fact that someone uploaded the "FUJIN WINS" voice clips to YouTube, only to have them taken down thanks to a copyright strike from Warner Bros. Interesting.
For any other game, we'd look at something like this and feel pretty confident about the line being drawn toward future content. Unfortunately, this is Mortal Kombat 11, made by NetherRealm Studios. And NetherRealm has been known to — how shall we say it — stir things up. It doesn't seem reasonable to believe NetherRealm thought these audio files would stay hidden. People always dig into updates. So from where we're sitting, the idea of Fujin joining the Mortal Kombat 11 roster seems just as likely as NetherRealm adding these files just so people would find them and start speculating.
Whether this is a legit leak of a new character or just a stunt, we can't say for certain. We will definitely be on the lookout for more Mortal Kombat 11 updates, though, just in case other Fujin-related files happen to drop into the game.
