The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening - How To Get The Boomerang
Longtime Zelda fans will be sad to learn that the boomerang has been nerfed in the Switch version of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening — it no longer kills the final boss in one hit — but it's still one of Link's most powerful and versatile items, and while it's purely optional, it makes the second half of the game a lot easier.
It's not particularly difficult to get, either, although it might take a little bit of time. In order to get the boomerang, you need the magnifying glass, the final item in the trading quest. The quest begins at the Trendy Game in Mabe Village, where you can win the Yoshi Doll. Win the doll, give it to Mamasha in exchange for the ribbon, and start talking to everyone you meet. Eventually, you'll trade your way up to the magnifying glass (if you need more help, Digital Trends has an excellent guide).
Once you have the magnifying glass, head to the beach where you first found Link's sword. Just south of the Banana Hut, you'll see a bomb-able wall. Blow the entrance open if you haven't already and head inside. Now that you have the magnifying glass, you'll be able to see Goriya, who was invisible before. Talk to him, and he'll offer you the boomerang — but only for a price.
Goriya forces you to trade one of the two items you have equipped in exchange for the boomerang. It doesn't really matter what you give up. In the Switch edition of Link's Awakening, you can buy back the item for 300 rupees. By this point in the game, you should have plenty of money. Pay the price, get all your stuff back, and head on your way.
