Arise: A Simple Story Is Releasing On PC And Xbox One, Too

The Last of Us: Part 2 was the clear star of last week's PlayStation State of Play, but close behind it was a relatively new title called Arise: A Simple Story. Players may have believed Arise to be a PlayStation exclusive, given that we got our first look at it courtesy of Sony's stream. But fortunately, that's not the case.

According to GematsuArise: A Simple Story is set to be a multi-platform affair, with versions of the game coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. On the PC side, the game will only be available via the Epic Games Store at launch (though we're not sure at this time how long that exclusivity lasts), but players on all supported platforms can look forward to playing Arise on the same day: Dec. 3, 2019.

The publisher of Arise, Techland, shared some additional details about the game that actually make it seem a little deeper than the trailer originally implied. We got the impression that Arise was going to be a sort of Journey-esque... well... journey through a number of different landscapes. According to Techland's info on the game, however, players have the ability to "control the flow of time and change [their] surroundings," and there is even support for two players to tackle the adventure at once.

And of course, we heard plenty of jokes about Arise, too; perhaps the most common being that it looks like a Santa Claus walking simulator.

We're rather surprised this isn't landing on the Nintendo Switch, as that console seems to have become the unofficial home for these kinds of experiences. And it's always possible we could see Arise on the Switch at some point. But for now, we're at least happy to hear that the game won't be limited to just the PlayStation 4.

Arise: A Simple Story comes to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Dec. 3.
