Xbox Rumor Is Bad News For Black Myth: Wukong Fans
"Black Myth: Wukong" has experienced an incredible launch. Even though it's only been out a week, the game has blown everyone away — or at least, everyone who's been able to play it. Some players are opting out of the "Black Myth: Wukong" experience because of the controversial comments made by its developers, but others haven't gotten the opportunity to play at all. Millions of players have already enjoyed the game on PC and PS5, but Xbox gamers are still waiting for the game to release for their console of choice. Now, a new rumor suggests that the game has been delayed indefinitely.
Ahead of the "Black Myth: Wukong" release, we knew that Xbox wouldn't be getting the game right away. Reports indicated that the developers at Game Science were still working on a few optimization issues that were preventing Xbox from approving the game. According to some sources, the game was having trouble running on the less-powerful Xbox Series S. That's not an uncommon occurrence during AAA development, and similar problems prevented "Baldur's Gate 3" from arriving on Xbox at the same time as PC and PlayStation 5. Neither Game Science nor Microsoft have publicly clarified why "Black Myth: Wukong" is getting a delayed release on Xbox consoles, but a new rumor has pointed to an even more specific problem plaguing the Xbox version of "Black Myth: Wukong." If it's true, Xbox gamers may continue waiting to play the game for quite some time.
A memory leak bug could be plaguing Black Myth: Wukong
A rumor coming out of Gamescom might shed some light on what's wrong with the Xbox version of "Black Myth: Wukong." Unfortunately, it doesn't offer any real indication of when the problem will be fixed.
Sources close to notable leaker exstas1s claim that the Xbox version of "Black Myth: Wukong" is suffering from memory leak, a bug that can end up affecting not just the game, but the entire console. The developers are supposedly hard at work fixing the problem, but until they manage to get a handle on it, Microsoft won't approve the game for release. The rumor is pretty easy to believe when considering the occasional performance issues experienced by the PS5 and PC releases of "Black Myth: Wukong." Players on Reddit responded to the rumor by discussing their own encounters with bugs in the versions of the game that are actually is playable.
If the rumor is true, Xbox players are looking at a mixed bag of news. On the one hand, Game Science at least knows what the big problem with "Black Myth: Wukong" is, and the studio is working on a solution. On the other hand, these kinds of fixes can take a long time, so there's no telling when the game will be released for Xbox. Given the game's success, Game Science might end up choosing to prioritize fixing bugs in the versions of the game that people are already playing, rather than attempting to speed up the Xbox release. As of right now, there's no solid release window for "Black Myth: Wukong" on Xbox consoles.
