The One Character We Still Want To See In Mortal Kombat 11
It seems hard to believe, but there are characters who seem important to the Mortal Kombat universe and are not at all present in Mortal Kombat 11. Like a certain half-female half-Tarkatan assassin; the one best known for her purple attire and sharp chompers. You know which one we're talking about, right? Mileena. It's Mileena.
Since first getting the nod in Mortal Kombat 2, Mileena has appeared in every single mainline Mortal Kombat game without so much as a hint of being left out. She's also a key figure in the lore of the franchise. So why would NetherRealm Studios opt to keep Mileena on the sidelines? Why keep an established, well-known Mortal Kombat character out of the newest game?
It's because she's dead. She was killed off in Mortal Kombat 10, and that apparently means there will be no more Mileena in Mortal Kombat. At least for now.
Is there a way NetherRealm could bring Mileena back into the Mortal Kombat universe, though? We suppose anything is possible. Some have speculated that time travel could be used to go back and pluck out a Mileena from the past who isn't dead yet. But as things stand in the MK universe currently, there are two timelines, and Mileena unfortunately happens to be dead in both of them.
It's also possible that Mortal Kombat could go full reboot again at some point. That would give the series an opportunity to wipe away any story that's been told and start anew, providing a character like Mileena the perfect opportunity to return. But the 2011 version of Mortal Kombat was considered a reboot, so that might be a trick NetherRealm can't use again for a while.
Regardless, we'd love to see Mileena make a return to the roster. We have to give NetherRealm kudos for sticking to its story at the expense of a fan-favorite character. At the same time, though, Mileena is a character that simply has to be in a Mortal Kombat game. Hopefully she gets her comeback sooner rather than later.
