What MrBeast's Ex-Girlfriend Really Thinks About Him
Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson has been going through a storm of controversy ever since disturbing allegations about Ava Tyson, his longtime friend and collaborator, came to light in July 2024. That scandal led many to scrutinize MrBeast and his productions more closely, and more concerning stories have since come to light concerning YouTube's biggest creator. Some of MrBeast's former employees leveled accusations of abusive behavior and faked videos, and enough contestants from MrBeast's reality show "Beast Games" came forward with horror stories that MrBeast's team had to respond to them directly.
For his own part, MrBeast himself has largely kept quiet. That might just be because he's struggling to keep up with the flow of news. It seems like just about every day a new story about MrBeast is getting mainstream attention, and none of them make him look good. On August 8, another story broke when MrBeast's ex-girlfriend, influencer Maddy Spidell, made some cryptic posts on her Instagram account. Considering the other stories that have come out over the summer, Spidell's comments aren't all that shocking. Still, it's not MrBeast's public image to have his ex throwing some subtle shade on him. Here's what Maddy Spidell had to say.
Maddy Spidell says she's a cautionary tale
Maddy Spidell posted two messages to her Instagram story, and even though neither of them mentioned MrBeast by name, it's not a stretch by any means to assume she's talking about him — that's what fans have already done. The stories have since come down, but Spidell's messages were quickly screenshotted and re-uploaded to X (formerly Twitter). In her first post, Spidell wrote simply, "@youtube you need to reevaluate who you're putting on the trending page." In her next post, Spidell said, "I don't want drama, I don't want anything, I just want to speak up for my 19 year old self." That age lines up with when Spidell started dating MrBeast, and in case there was any doubt that he was the subject of her message, Spidell added, "There was no user manual, there was no instructions on how to deal with gaining a following quickly, no cheat sheet on dating someone famous."
Spidell wrote, "I believe I should be used as a cautionary tale," and then she went on to imply that a partner had mistreated her. "If something is too good to be true, it probably is," Spidell said. "How he treats other women will ultimately be how he treats you." Spidell concluded her message by saying, "There are scary people out there." She then encouraged her followers to always call out bad behavior and to speak up if they see anything. Shortly after uploading the Instagram story, Spidell shared a post on X that seemingly confirmed she was talking about MrBeast.
Spidell has said her piece
Since making another somewhat-vague post on X, Maddy Spidell has made her account private. However, just like with Spidell's Instagram stories, people were quick to screenshot and share. On X, Spidell wrote, "3 years away from that weirdo, my skin is clear, my relationship and friendships are flourishing, I'm frolicking in a field." Spidell went on to make a cheeky reference to some of the reactions to her Instagram story she was seeing online. "'She's so vague,' 'she said nothing.' From the looks of it, I don't need to," Spidell said. "Not putting myself through that s*** again but thanks!" Again, while Donaldson is not directly named in these posts, the timeline and the closeness to the other controversies surrounding MrBeast have onlookers convinced that this is the intent.
Spidell clearly knows that some people are going to criticize her for not being more forthcoming about her feelings about MrBeast, but it really seems like she's said all she wanted to. We also might not be hearing more from her on this particular subject anytime soon, given how quickly she locked down her X account. Spidell's comments aren't so scandalous that they're going to bring MrBeast down, but they do add to the pile of negative stories that currently surround him. The internet will be waiting to see if MrBeast responds to Spidell's posts, or if he chooses to focus on tackling the other scandals first.
