This Fortnite Chained Together Map Is Blowing Our Minds

If you're feeling disillusioned with the controversial car-centric season in "Fortnite," then you can thankfully take refuge in the many other play-styles offered by the game. You can build with bricks in "Lego Fortnite," spend some time reliving the glory days of "Rock Band" via "Fortnite Festival," or even build islands of your very own. Fan creations are some of the most exciting parts of "Fortnite" these days, and one map that's starting to catch on borrows mechanics from another popular game and allows players to take a trip down "Fortnite" memory lane. Creator Gnagames has released an island called "Chained Together," which transforms "Fortnite" into a co-op game that really tests how well you and your friends can work together.

As the title suggests, Gnagames' creation is clearly inspired by Anegar Games' "Chained Together," which forces linked players to help each other climb their way out of hell. The concept here is the same, but the location is very different. Instead of climbing out of dungeons and pits of fire, the Gnagames map sees players working through an aerial obstacle course based on the entire "Fornite" timeline. Each region of the map is inspired by a different "Fortnite" season. Some of the obstacles, like the dinosaur figures in the Season 5 section, are a welcome blast from the past. Others, like the snow-covered buildings in season 7, are a little less welcome. Right now the map only takes players through season 8, where they're forced to scale an inverted pirate ship, but it's still a great way to celebrate all the years of fun that "Fornite" has given us.

Chained Together is one more reason to keep playing

2024 brought some serious changes to "Fortnite," and fans have mostly enjoyed it. We've gotten new game modes and crossovers, and creative players have been keeping us supplied with new maps to check out. The "Chained Together" map really is just a microcosm that sums up what makes "Fortnite" so great as a whole. Not only does it offer a break from the usual shooter grind, but it takes cues from a different game and allows players to mess around with their friends in a large nostalgia-packed arena.

Part of what makes the "Fornite" version of "Chained Together" so fun is the janky way the chain mechanic has been implemented. If you fall off the map, you won't immediately pull your teammates down with you, and you might even be able to air hop your way back to where you're supposed to be. Fans are getting big laughs playing the map and watching others make their own attempts to climb through "Fortnite" history. Other map-makers are getting in on the action, as multiple "Chained Together" maps have popped up. Some even come with their own unique gimmicks. For instance, instead of encouraging you to climb through every "Fortnite" season, Digitag made a "Chained Together" map that acts as a scavenger hunt where your team needs to find ten secrets hidden throughout the course. Now's a great time to hop back into "Fortnite" and learn what all the fuss is about with "Chained Together."
