Fans React To Deadpool & Wolverine's Ridiculous New Xbox Controller

Microsoft has really outdone itself this time. While we were all getting hyped for the new Xbox consoles planned for 2024, the company's top engineers were working on a secret project that has shocked gamers, moviegoers, and superhero fans everywhere. We're talking about the "cheeky" Deadpool Xbox controller.

The controller is part of a sweepstakes tie-in with the upcoming film "Deadpool & Wolverine," and it's right in line with the tone of the franchise. Whoever wins the sweepstakes will get the controller, which looks like it's been cut straight from Deadpool's suit. Winners can also get a Deadpool-themed console and a set of foam katanas. The console and swords are arguably the bigger prizes here, but it's really the controller's backside that's catching everyone's attention. Microsoft's promotional posts promises that players can "Make [Deadpool's] finest asset your own," and the company's not lying. Gamers are dying to add the controller to their collections, but unfortunately not very many people are going to have that opportunity.

There's only going to be one winner, so most of us will only get to use the controller in our dreams — which is a bit ironic, considering the controller leaves so very little to the imagination. Gamers are freaking out over Microsoft's latest design, though basically everyone agrees that the controller should be more widely available, and not just given to the single person who wins the sweepstakes.

Fans on the 'cheeky' controller design

This isn't the first time that Microsoft has released an exciting promotional controller, but this edition is unsurprisingly getting more attention than usual. Previous limited edition Xbox controllers have definitely looked cool, but they haven't jumped out of the screen quite as much as Deadpool's here. This really is the kind of thing that gets you to stop your morning internet scroll to do a double take.

Some people are really just interested in the controller because of the, um, ergonomic design. It's scientific curiosity, honestly.

Some fans are asking the real questions and digging into what special features might come along with a controller like this.

A few fans have seized on the moment to implore Xbox to re-release "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and 2013's "Deadpool," two of the best "X-Men" video games of all time.

Everyone's a bit shocked, to say the least, that Xbox is putting something like this out, but everyone also agrees that this is a piece of gaming memorabilia we all want to own. Whoever wins the controller is going to be getting a ton of new friend requests. Heck, some gamers have even argued that non-Deadpool fans might just want an Xbox controller with these particular, ahem, dimensions.

Deadpool fans want it all

The new Xbox controller isn't the only "Deadpool & Wolverine" promotional item that's getting attention online. There's also a deeply upsetting popcorn bucket that fans are noticing would make the perfect nightmarish complement to the controller.

If fans had it their way, they'd be decked out with all the latest Deadpool swag ahead of the new movie premiere. The fact that the controller is the one piece of the puzzle that's going to be impossible to get is really bothering some people, to the point where they're practically begging Microsoft to make more controllers so they can get in on the fun.

There's no doubt that these Deadpool controllers would sell like hotcakes if they were actually in stores, and plenty of commenters online have said that they'd shell out big bucks to be able to bring the controller home. Sure, Microsoft might need to set up curtained-off areas before putting them on display, but real fans would find their way to them anyway. The sweepstakes is already in motion, though, so don't expect to see this controller in your local Target anytime soon. Although fans are sad to miss out on the chance to get their hands on Deadpool's butt, all hope isn't lost just yet. When "Marvel's Wolverine" finally comes out for PS5, maybe Sony will take the opportunity to give fans what they really want.
