Fortnite's Mechs Can Help You Cheat Your Way To Victory
Fortnite's new B.R.U.T.E. mechs are terrible and no one likes them. Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration. Some players enjoy using them, but the vast majority are cursing their existence at the moment. That's not going to make this next bit of news any easier to swallow.
Polygon is reporting that some Fortnite players have discovered a rather astounding glitch involving the B.R.U.T.E. mechs; one that somehow makes players disappear while still keeping them alive and in the game, at least where it counts. A YouTuber named Fallacy uploaded a video that demonstrates and describes the glitch, and sure enough, after performing a series of actions with the mech, players can put themselves into a bodiless but invincible state.
At that point, whoever is using the glitch just has to wait. The storm will eventually come along to kill whoever else is left, and the cheating player will score a victory.
We don't expect this glitch to become a rampant issue, as Polygon notes that one step of the glitch — getting a mech to the very edge of the map — is incredibly tricky to do. We wouldn't be entirely shocked, however, to see swarms of players suddenly racing toward those mechs. People are going to at least try to pull it off, and along the way, a couple are going to succeed. So it seems highly likely that we're going to see a patch for this glitch rolling in sometime soon.
Who knows: maybe Epic Games will decide the best course of action is to remove the B.R.U.T.E. mechs from Fortnite altogether. That wouldn't hurt many feelings.
