Is The MK11 Director Trolling With New John Wick DLC?
Ed Boon is at it again, apparently. He's teased Mortal Kombat 11 players many times prior about potential DLC characters, and now he's now added one more name to the list: John Wick.
Boon retweeted a photo posted by a NetherRealm Studios designer, showing what appears to be a few people goofing off while doing motion capture. It seems harmless enough; someone who bears a slight resemblance to Keanu Reeves' John Wick character from the neck up is shooting a gun, and a mo-cap artist is pretending to be struck by a bullet. Then Boon went and added the hashtag #JohnWickKonfirmed, and because everyone keeps falling for this, there's now rampant speculation that John Wick could become the next DLC character in Mortal Kombat 11.
Remember: this is the guy who tweeted out about a dozen photos of Shaggy from Scooby-Doo and didn't add him to the game. As predictors, his tweets have been zero-percent correct so far.
According to Game Rant, fans are actually getting a little sick of it, too. Players have paid for access to actual announced characters in Mortal Kombat 11 that, so far, have yet to receive release dates. And it hasn't helped that Boon's been antagonizing the Mortal Kombat player base with tweets like this one. Some have taken to Reddit to complain about Boon's Twitter habits. Others simply leave comments under his tweets like, "At this point, his trolling has become stale and annoying. Nothing funny about it anymore."
We're not even going to attempt the mental gymnastics of trying to figure out if this is actually real and Ed Boon just wants the world to think it's fake. That's just thinking way too hard about it. At this stage, Boon knows he can get some Mortal Kombat 11 coverage by tweeting out cartoon art or tacking a hashtag on to an otherwise unremarkable photo. And that's very likely all this is: trolling for attention. If John Wick ends up in Mortal Kombat, we'd be very surprised.
But of course, if it happens, we'll let you know.
