Chug Splashes Come To Fortnite In Latest Update
Finally, you can play as a healer in Fortnite! According to the latest blog post from Epic Games, Fortnite now has an item called the Chug Splash. And unlike other blue, liquid treats, this one doesn't only give health back to the player using it.
"On impact, this thrown item splashes liquid in a small area," Epic's blog post says. "All players within the splash radius will be instantly granted 20 Health/Shield."
This sounds like it'll make things very interesting in the final stages of a match. All players, though; could you potentially heal an enemy by accident if they get caught in the splash, so to speak? It certainly seems that way.
There are a few caveats to using the Chug Splash, which Epic also outlines in its blog post. The Chug Splash will grant players both health and shield if they're missing both. However, players with full health will only get shield; there's no overcharging, here. And it seems the Chug Splash can even have an effect on a player who is downed. Epic's blog post states that the item will "extend the duration of the 'knocked' state for knocked players," which could buy your buddy some extra time while you clear out an area.
We can't wait to see how the Chug Splash fares in Fortnite's more competitive arenas. There could be some fun times ahead.
There is one more change in the latest Fortnite update that has us feeling a certain way; unfortunately, that way is 'a little bummed.' The Boom Bow has officially been vaulted, meaning it will no longer spawn on the ground or in chests during play. The Boom Bow was one of Fortnite's more entertaining weapons to use, as it rewarded a quick yet precise shooter with an instant kill in most cases. And it did serious work on snipers who camp in trees and on top of buildings, as the Boom Bow appeared to be more of a hitscan weapon (rather than a weapon with serious drop-off).
We hope the Boom Bow comes back at some point. It was about as close as you could come to shooting a bow from Destiny 2, and as anyone will tell you, those are the best-feeling bows in video games.
Fortnite's v9.30 update should be available now.
