Ice-T Might Have A Part In Borderlands 3
How do you make Borderlands 3 even more over the top? You mix in a little Ice-T. ComicBook.com is reporting that Ice-T, the actor/rapper who spends his days busting bad guys on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, could have a role in Gearbox Software's upcoming first-person shooter.
After the (rather strange) announcement of Borderlands 3 yesterday, Gearbox's Randy Pitchford tweeted out a video clip of the game's 4K trailer. Ice-T — who is quite active on Twitter — quote-tweeted Pitchford's update, adding, "Gamer Stuff: There's a rumor that I'm doing a voice in Borderlands 3....."
The official Borderlands 3 account later followed up by saying this: "Who would start a rumor like that?"
For the record, this is not a rumor we'd seen anywhere prior to Ice-T mentioning it. It's sort of like us saying there's a rumor going around that we've played Half-Life 3. No one was spreading that around, and the thought hadn't even entered your mind until you read that sentence. Have we played Half-Life 3, though? Sorry — we don't comment on rumors or speculation.
But hey, good for Ice-T if it's true. To his credit, Ice-T is a known fan of gaming, having either contributed to projects in the past or made his love for the medium apparent elsewhere. He's done voice work for games like UFC: Tapout, GTA: San Andreas, and Gears of War 3. And the man is an avid Destiny 2 player, somehow finding the time to both act and level his Titan to max power.
If there's someone in Hollywood who would truly appreciate becoming part of the Borderlands universe, it's Ice-T.
Unfortunately, we don't have any real confirmation of Ice-T's involvement in Borderlands 3 outside of all that Twitter action. It — like so many things about Borderlands 3 — is something we'll likely have to learn more about later. We'll be sure to keep you updated if we hear anything about Ice-T's role in the game, or if anything else comes to light about Gearbox's next Borderlands title itself.
