We Finally Know When GTA 6's Trailer Drops
The day is almost here. It's officially December, the month in which Rockstar Games recently promised to finally unveil the first trailer for the next game in the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise. Despite the massive "GTA 6" gameplay leak that hit the internet last year, very little is known about the game itself, including its plot and even the game's official title (which might not even be "GTA 6"). But now, after what feels like an eternity of waiting, we finally know to expect the trailer on Tuesday, December 5. This blows away several previous theories, many of which hinged upon the trailer premiering during this year's Game Awards broadcast.
Fans have been waiting with bated breath ever since Rockstar first hinted that the trailer was imminent, but the AAA studio thankfully cut the tension at the very top of the month. A simple graphic posted to the official Rockstar Games X account promises "Trailer 1" on December 5 at 9 AM Eastern Time. Generating even more hype is the fact that the graphic features neon colors and palm trees, signaling the fact that gamers will finally be returning to "Vice City" when the next game arrives. As anyone who has been waiting for this news might have imagined, this announcement has already pretty much broken the internet.

What can we expect in GTA 6's first trailer?
Rockstar Games' penchant for secrecy tends to extend to its initial trailers. The first trailer for "Grand Theft Auto 5," for instance, features voiceover from reformed criminal Michael De Santa rolling over footage of the city of Los Santos. It sets a heck of a tone, but doesn't tell players much about the game beyond the basics: This will be a game in which you commit crimes and try to outrun the law. You know, the time-honored "Grand Theft Auto" promise. The reveal trailer for "Red Dead Redemption 2" followed a similar tactic, acting as more of a mood piece than an outright preview of things to come. All that it really told players is that the game's environments were going to be gorgeous, and that they needed to be prepared to rustle up some cattle.
It's likely that the first "GTA 6" trailer will be in much the same vein, giving players a fun reintroduction to Vice City. We can probably expect plenty of bright colors and a catchy pop/rock needle drop — after all, the original "Vice City" is still celebrated for its excellent soundtrack. We may also get our first legitimate look at the new lead characters. Numerous leaks have pointed to the protagonists being a couple named Jason and Lucia, who embark on a Bonnie and Clyde-style crime spree together. Lucia's status as the franchise's first playable female protagonist could net her a bit more of the spotlight in this first preview, but we'll have to wait a few more days to find out for certain. While it's too early to say exactly what will be in the new trailer, it's safe to expect something light on plot and heavy on mood, like previous Rockstar teaser trailers.
