Assassin's Creed Is Getting A New Mobile Game
Most Assassin's Creed fans have more than they can handle right now thanks to the series' most recent release, Odyssey. But if you're still looking for ways to fill your time with hooded assassins and hidden blades, you'll soon have to look no further than your smartphone.
Assassin's Creed: Rebellion is an upcoming mobile game from Ubisoft, and as such, it appears as though it'll do mobile game things. A key gameplay hook is the ability to "collect" characters from past Assassin's Creed games, which will ultimately help you "forge your Brotherhood" and "spark the Rebellion" — whatever that means. In a trailer released for the game, other mobile-centric design elements seem to be on display, as well. In one scene, your assassin is shown carefully studying a world map, as though to plot out his or her next move. In another, you'll catch a glimpse of several assassins sharpening their sword skills against some dummies.
As far as looks are concerned, Assassin's Creed: Rebellion looks to borrow heavily from the style of Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition. The characters are more cartoony in nature and all seem to be extremely short. In that regard, they almost resemble POP! figurines more than deadly killers.
And the game's mechanics sound as though they're borrowing a bit from Bethesda's mobile game Fallout Shelter. As your assassins level up and become more powerful, you can expand your base with new rooms, creating even more opportunities for your characters to train and add new skills. Developing assassins with different skill sets will become crucial down the line, as each in-game mission requires you to take a team of three. Having some diversity in your line-up could make some of those missions much easier.
Assassin's Creed: Rebellion is set to release for both iOS and Android on Nov. 21, 2018. Users who register on the Ubisoft website ahead of the game's launch can lay claim to some "special rewards," though it's unclear what exactly those awards are.
