Pokemon Scarlet And Violet: Frigibax Location And How To Evolve It
There are a lot of amazing new Pokémon that have been added in Gen 9, but Frigibax is among the most frequently sought after. It doesn't matter if gamers are trying to catch 'em all or simply build a powerful team of six, many players insist Frigibax is a must-catch in "Pokémon Scarlet" and "Violet." This is because its final evolution, Baxcalibur, is not only one of the most powerful dragons, but it's easily one of the most powerful creatures in the entire game. Its dual Dragon and Ice-Type give it access to a pretty incredible move-set and its stats are so impressive that many fans refer to it as a pseudo legendary Pokémon.
Frigibax itself is quite adorable. It has a short, reptilian body with gray skin, yellow eyes, a short tail, an individual yellow feather growing out of each arm, and a single, shark-like fin on its back. It also has a small crystal of ice that it wears on its chest like a badge.
Unfortunately, tracking down a Frigibax to add to your pokédex is no mean feat. Many players might go through the whole campaign without ever seeing one. Here's where they spawn and how to evolve one once players catch it.
Frigibax is on Glaseado Mountain
It might not surprise fans to learn that Frigibax spawns amidst the snowy peaks of Glaseado Mountain since half of this Pokémon nature is Ice-Type. It's very rare to find it wandering around the slopes and pathways that trainers typically pass through on their way to mission objectives, however. They're much more commonly found in caves. Even then though, it's exceedingly rare for this little critter to make an appearance since it has a very low spawn rate.
Fortunately, there aren't a ton of other Dragon-Types that spawn on the mountain. That means sandwiches that increase the player's Dragon-Typen encounter rate will be extremely helpful. One of the simplest of these is the Great Avocado Sandwich which is made from Tomato, Salt, Avocado, and Smoked Fillet. Not only are these ingredients pretty easy to track down by the time players reach Mount Glaseado, it also grants a Level 2 boost to Dragon-Type encounters, making it much easier to come across a Frigibax.
But even once you find one, you still have to actually catch it. Frigibax has a catch rate of only 11.9%, which means getting one once you find it isn't terribly easy. There are certainly harder Pokémon to catch in the game, but it's best to start hunting with a good stock of Ultra Balls and maybe a few Dusk Balls for good measure. There's nothing worse than searching for a Pokémon and then not having the inventory to catch it when you finally find one.
Evolution can be a grind
There are a lot of Pokémon that require evolution stones or certain conditions to be met before they can evolve. Fortunately, Frigibax's evolution cycle is pretty straightforward. It evolves into Arctibax at level 35, which in turn evolves into Baxcalibur at level 54. Straightforward doesn't necessarily mean easy, though. Those are some pretty high evolution levels, and like most Dragon-Types, they require a tremendous amount of experience points to level up. All of the newer games having Exp. Share baked in certainly makes things easier, but it can be a long and tedious slog trying to get a Baxcalibur the old-fashioned way.
There are a couple of tricks players can use to speed things up though. First of all, players should give their Frigibax the Lucky Egg to hold. Players get this as a reward for defeating five gym battles, so most players should already have it by the time they reach Glaseado Mountain. The Lucky Egg allows the Pokémon holding it to earn experience points from normal battle (not auto-battle) 50% faster.
The second trick is to participate in lots and lots of Tera Raid battles. Not only will the player's Pokémon earn EXP from the battles themselves, but they might also be rewarded with EXP Candy or Rare Candy, which can both increase the speed your Pokémon levels up.
Once they're done, players should have a powerful new Pokémon to help them become the next champion!
